School Health & Safety
Policies & Procedures
Updated August 29th, 2022
Valley Inquiry Charter School continues to monitor the guidance and rules as set forth by the Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), Governor's Office, Oregon Department of Education (ODE), Oregon Health Authority, Marion County Health Department, and Salem-Keizer Public Schools District. We are committed to doing our part to maximize in-person instruction while keeping students, families, and staff members as safe as possible. Please note: With the increase in COVID cases and the Delta variant, changes to our policies and procedures can happen quickly and suddenly.
The following policies and procedures are currently in place and exist as mechanisms to mitigate and curb the spread of COVID-19 within our school community. These policies and procedures exist to prevent the spread of COVID-19 while still allowing for all students to have full access to in-person education, full-time.
Face coverings are recommended but not required at this time.
Three (3) feet of social distancing between all students in the classroom
Volunteers must be fully vaccinated with a cleared background check from the district.
Medical Grade HEPA filters
in all learning spaces to increase air quality
Sanitizing common surfaces multiple times a day
Scheduled hand-washing breaks throughout the school day
vaccine required for all
staff and volunteers
Meals will be eaten in the cafeteria with grade specific cohorts. Snack will be eaten in the classroom with outdoor snack time when possible.
Healthy & Safe Schools Plan
In accordance with the Oregon Department of Education (ODE), Valley Inquiry follows an approved Healthy and Safe Schools Plan to monitor for lead, asbestos, radon, pest management, carbon monoxide, etc. This plan and results are available here. Additionally, Valley Inquiry Charter School aligns with Salem-Keizer Public Schools in its adoption of Students Rights & Responsibilities.
